Hey you, hurry up and get the next trendy gadget that will make you “better”, “healthier”, “fitter” or “sexier”.

Because there’s a sale going on happiness. Yeah, baby, it’s up to you to go after your dreams, but don’t forget to spend bucket-loads along the way. Because Daddy Corporation, and Mr. Technocracy, have to be fed.

Their greedy bellies are never full, and your constant spending put a giant smile on their faces.

My gosh, you have got to be kidding me with this craziness. There is more to life than this. There is so much beauty to behold in the natural world alone. After we get over the Black Friday sales, at least.

The Question

What is capitalism doing to us?

Why the heck are we bombarded with imagery, and soundbites of happiness? To be found in a box, bottle, program, package, or yet another self-help book?

Is this the soul sludge I must live in , that’s cutely disguised as modern life? Well, I don't want anything to do with it. I didn’t get the memo for living like this.

Why must I succumb to this foolishness? I’ve got to keep my mind clear, and my eyes opened. Unless, I fear being fully hoodwinked into the toxic cocktail of mindless entertainment, endless spending, and shallow trend chasing.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will.” — John Milton

I’ll hold on to the old ways instead

I’ll sink my hands in the dirt
listen for the call of the trees
and hold space for my ancestors to show me the path.

I’ll look to mother nature in the form of plants and animas,
studying their ways as a path to freedom and liberation
for nature holds the ultimate wisdom

I don’t want to be part of a soulless system, I never signed up for. I don’t want to be thrown into the sea of success-chasers, desperately swimming upstream a tide of exhaustion, and low self-worth.

We are descendants of stardust, gods and goddesses, why are we letting the technocracy and corporatocracy dictate the direction of our lives?

Opting out of hustle, constant spending, hyperconsumerism, burn out, and brain-rot is an act of conscious activism.

It’s a reclamation of our rights as human being, not human doings.

Are you feeling the stirring in your soul? Can you hear the faint call of warriors past, welcoming you into your lost soul-filled life?

Turn off the Netflix, ignore the ads, and see if you can hear the faint whisper, ushering you back to whom you really are.
