Love evolution part 2: Kids and quarrels
I believe that my husband and I are a perfect match.
However, that does not mean that we are a picture-perfect clash-free couple. Nor do I want to be. My personal experience has led me to the conviction that fighting can make a marriage stronger. Okay, yes, so sometimes it can break it up. You have to fight to grow, not fight to win. But if you try too hard to avoid fighting altogether, it could cause serious problems. I should know.
As far as I can recall, until my second daughter was born, marital spats in our house were fairly one-sided. My husband got mad, and I apologized. I did try to defend myself, but I did not try to fight back, mainly because I also thought I was in the wrong. My self-defense was mostly excuses, because I wanted to be excused. Not because I thought I was right. However, a few months after my first child was born, I did start to think that the way my husband expressed his anger was wrong.
