We All Need a Guillermo Del Toro in Our Lives
"You will not disrespect Martin Scorsese in my presence"
Film Twitter experienced an interesting couple of days when an article criticizing Martin Scorsese's "self-indulgence" made the rounds. You can find it , should you wish to.
The author poses a few good points…I mean, come on, Mr. Scorsese, your movies don't need to be that long. However, as I read it, I felt a poisonous vibe all over it.
The whole thing is nothing but a petty attempt at bashing the career of one of the most influential filmmakers in cinema history. Yes, we don't always agree with what Dear Martin does, but there's no denying the beauty of his work.
This "piece" feels as if it were written by a vindictive child who wants to convince us that, in reality, Martin Scorsese stinks. "He sucks, guys! Can't you see?"
However, some good came out of it, for it allowed us to witness how a talented filmmaker praised one of his idols.
Guillermo comes to the rescue.
In a series of tweets, none other than Guillermo del Toro explained how the article was nothing but ill-intended clickbait.
He wrote:
