Worrisome Waters
The Day the Water Rose
Thunder blasts and the house rattles
as nature fights this ferocious battle
anguish swirls severely in my brain
as I hear the pounding of relentless rain
surging waters flow like fear in my veins
and a question confronts me once again
staring solemnly as I ruminate
on thoughts to expeditiously evacuate
should I hunker down and see this through?
“You must act fast!”, screams the view
I witness the stream steadily accrue
realizing it now resembles a robust river
worry washes over me as I begin to quiver
Dear God, from this storm, please deliver
breathing deep to keep sane
damn, this weather’s not a game
I take a peek out the front window
“woah, that car just hydroplaned”
thank goodness they’re okay
water’s welling up, coming our way
I search, “how to survive in a flood”
to see what YouTube has to say
it says to turn off the electricity
this situation feels hella risky
