What I Wish Every Mom Told Her Son

Here you step into the world
With every breath, a new chance is curled

But before you step through
Let me tell you what I feel about you

I know it hurts when you are ready to cry
And you hear the words “hush! you are a boy”

When the emotions are not considered
And the tears are unattended

It was not a mistake, but frequently made
And now no words can provide you with aid

But my son, you grew up so well
With a kindness that forever dwells

Here’s some advice I will give
It’s not you but your character that will live

Let your character be the star
That shines through dark and has no scars

Life is a tide that rises and falls
With every wave, a new challenge calls

But you, my son, stay still and calm
That every obstacle will enhance your charm

Remember, you are raised a man
With a resilience that will always expand
