The Unraveling of Truth
History is warning us
History tries to warn us. But it usually doesn’t shout out the warnings. Rarely is it a blaring alarm.
Rather, we are often lulled into lies and acceptance, and truth is hanged and choked off ever so slowly as liberties fade. Man gradually stops speaking the truth.
It doesn’t happen quickly, as that would offend the minds of thinking people, making them rebel. Instead, it’s like the frog placed in water that is slowly brought to a boil. The frog never realizes it’s being boiled to death until it’s too late. It never even tries to struggle or get out.
The death of truth starts with a slight shift in language. There’s just enough truth in the message to make it believable and tasteful. But the words are shaded with subtle and deliberate distortions of facts that blur truth in small increments until facts and beliefs become reframed and redefined.
As truth becomes distorted, fear, doubt, and confusion creep into our thinking. The lies begin to flourish as we increasingly arrive at an anxious state that pushes us to ignore the whispers of discomfort.
The unraveling of truth creeps into our thinking and into our society. It begins with the banning of a book, biased media, dissent that is quickly crushed, and the censoring of journalists.
