Avoiding fascism, stinky flowers, and activities loved by Canadians
It has been a while since we sent out a newsletter, and since then Canada managed to avoid electing a White supremacist as prime minister. Yay us!
There was a lot of talk about the Canadian federal election, and whether we’d follow on the footsteps of our southern neighbour. But a shining knight stepped in at the last minute to steal the election from the conservative candidate.
It was none other than Mark Carney, former bank governor for Canada and England. He still thinks in dollar signs like other politicians, but at least he’s not being outwardly divisive. He is calm and measured when speaking, including during his recent visit with the U.S. president — and it’s nice to have someone level-headed at the top.
The publication would like to thank in particular for his election coverage leading up to the deciding night, and for his analysis afterwards. It brought much-needed perspective to the race for top politician.
Canada is not out of the woods yet, however. The conservatives flipped some seats that were formerly held by the NDP, Canada’s labour party, as I predicted. A lot of other NDP voters appear to have backed the Liberals, knowing the NDP’s leader was on a…
