Changing the World: It’s an Inside Job
Living in a new and better world requires us to change our own inner world first.
It’s estimated that there are roughly 8 billion people in the world. Frankly, I dare to say that all of them are living in their own personal worlds. These worlds are made up of experiences, concepts, beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and most of the time, each person's world seems to prove itself right. Perhaps you’ve heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The world is what every individual perceives it to be—a story that’s constantly repeating itself. The strange thing is that people could have the same experiences on a surface level, yet come to different conclusions about them. I challenge the idea that our inner self is a consequence of the outer world we live in. Instead, I believe that the world we see is a result of our inner thoughts and beliefs about it.
When we examine the world and see what has gone wrong, we get a glimpse of what’s wrong on both a collective and individual level. If we take an even deeper look, we can see the destruction of our planet as a mirror reflecting how we destroy ourselves. If the inner situation is the cause of the outer world, then everything that happens suddenly makes sense. Many lost, emotionally wounded people are running the world, often still trying…
