What the World Needs Now is the Wisdom of the Three Little Pigs
What do you build your house out of?
I have been less active on Medium since the results of the American election came out. There are several reasons why. The most immediate and obvious reason is that I got a new job, which has been keeping me busy. Also, readership, feedback, and earnings seemed to drop off a cliff before and around the time of the election, and I would be deceiving myself if I said that had no effect on my motivation to write regularly.
But as I woke up this morning, I realized there was another, more important, more consequential reason behind the subconscious distance between myself and post-election Medium. And I felt strongly that I should write about it, and post it on Medium. So here I am.
I Wash My Hands of It
My husband recently became a member of a new political party in Japan. His party, which gained strength during the COVID epidemic largely due to mutual distrust of government policies regarding that epidemic, is seen by many non-party members as a “Conspiracy Theory Party.” They claim they are not. I, for obvious reasons, refuse to take sides.
