Less Than 0.01% of the U.S. Population Will Determine the 2024 Election Results
In 2020, the fate of America was decided by just 21,460 people, and from the looks of it, history may well repeat itself in 2024
In 2020, the outcome of the United States presidential election came down to the votes of just 21,460 people. Since the United States had a population of over , the Biden vs. Trump presidential election could have taken a radically different turn if only 0.0065% of America had voted differently (see the maths below).
Note: 21,460/331,449,281 * 100% = 0.0065%
Unfortunately, due to the outdated nature of the American election system that gives swing state voters a disproportionate influence in the election. History could repeat itself, with less than 0.01% of the American population potentially deciding the outcome of the 2024 Harris vs. Trump election. This is why both presidential candidates are spending record-breaking amounts campaigning in swing states.
In this article, I will briefly explain the U.S. voting system, the extreme influence of swing voters in American politics, and how less than 0.01% of the population could determine the next president of the United States.
