Rodney McGill Jr in Trump’s America!
How do you think it affects me?
As far back as I can remember, people used to wonder why I didn’t vote and I would always tell them it was a waste of valuable time, my valuable time! Words I still stand by today. You know, when I was dating the woman who eventually ended up becoming my wife then ex-wife, her grandfather asked me once, “so who did you vote for?”
To which I counter, “I don’t vote, it’s a waste of time!” To which he counters, “don’t complain if something happens that your vote could’ve prevented.”
I blew off what he said, not putting any stock in it because the thing with me is, I always stand by my choices. Like Marge Simpson said and I quote, “when your heart makes a decision, you stick with it!”
I say all of that to say this, I’ve been reading, hearing, and listening to people complain about President Trump as well as his radical policies; living in Trump’s America as it were. As a black man living in Trump’s America at present, you know what I think, you know how it affects me; not one fuckin’ bit!
