Enlist in My Army: Jason’s Medium Writing Boot Camp
Now Drop and Give Me 1000 Words
Good afternoon, Cadets! It’s your tough but reasonably fair Boot Camp instructor, Major Professor. That’s kind of a confusing name, though for a military-influenced man. Let’s shorten this up: You can refer to me as Major Pro.
Today I want to talk about Medium’s earnings system. I’ve heard plenty of bitching about the last changes to the earnings program. It incentivized actual interaction with readers and writers. If you’re not good at leaving other writers claps, highlighting their writing, and leaving a comment, get with the program.
“No man left behind”? Not true. Not all writers are created equally. Some of you may as well join the National Guard, Peace Corps, or go play with your G.I. Joes. This shit is going to get intense. But you’ll become a better Medium writer for it.
You’ll also make more friends and teammates.
No matter how talented of a writer you might be, you’ll never reach the goals you have by only being in this for yourself. Perhaps some of you have experienced this already during the time the changes to the earnings program had been in place. It sucks to take a downturn in your pay grade.
