A Very Merry 80’s Christmas
The Holidays were joyous and memorable even without today’s modern conveniences.
As a member of Generation X, I spent my childhood during the 1980s. I love everything from that era — the movies, music, clothes, and toys! We didn’t have modern technology like iPhones and digital streaming, but that decade still brings many fond recollections to those who lived during it.
When I think of celebrating the holidays during that era, the song “Last Christmas” by Wham! begins playing in my head. Here are a few highlights of what it was like to celebrate the holiday festivities during the 1980s.
Christmas cartoons came once a year.
Kids today can watch whatever cartoon they want, any time of the day, and as much as they choose. This was not the case during the 1980s. TV stations played cartoon classics like Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, and A Charlie Brown Christmas only once a year during December.
