Are You Really Watching Your Diet?

When we hear the word “diet”, the thought of food and weight loss programs comes to mind. Diets are commonly known as “lose weight fast” schemes where food is sacrificed at the altar of health.

According to the dictionary, the word diet means “the kinds of foods that a person, animal or community habitually eats”.

The operative word in that definition is “habitually.” What if I told you that your diet is more than what you eat and drink on a regular basis — your diet is everything that you habitually consume.

This means the music you listen to, what kinds of television programs you watch, your social media “feed”, the medications or drugs you take, how often you drink or smoke, the kinds of things you buy, and the words you speak— — are all a part of your diet.

A diet is basically one’s habits of consumption and it shapes who you are as a person. Your diet impacts your mood, your personality, your thought patterns, your system of beliefs and your behavior.

It is so important to be mindful of your diet — all the things you consume on a regular basis.
