Why Unlocking the True Meaning of Elite Should Matter to You
Please stop repeating what you hear in the media, especially Fox News. Check out anything repeated on social media, as Aunt Edna and Uncle Joe are unreliable sources. We’re blasted by propaganda from all sides, so be aware.
Elites are a favorite tag for liberals by the conservative news media. What is the definition of the word? It’s not what you assume.
An elite is a member of a group who exerts much power or influence by position or education. All politicians exert power by position, period. That means all left, right, or centrist politicians are elites.
Corporate CEOs exert power via position, whether left, right, or centrist. All multi-millionaires or billionaires are elites. The artist who makes poverty wages may be a liberal, but sorry, under this definition, they are NOT elite.
Whether left, right, or centrist, educators qualify as elite under this definition, but their power is questionable. Power is defined chiefly by politicians and corporate leaders who control money and influence in our society.
Do people experiencing poverty, as well as the middle and upper middle classes, have power? Yes, but we don’t know it. There are thousands of us compared to corporate leaders and politicians.
