Defy Age and Greyness by Embracing Your Style
The other day, a young woman complimented me on my dark blue button-up sweater. I thanked her and mused on the whims of fashion. For many years, wearing my dark blue sweater equated with frumpiness.
All of a sudden, it’s back in fashion again. It’s over 40 years old! The clothes in my closet are aging with me.
I’ve donated several articles of clothing that no longer fit or that I was tired of. There’s much more room in the closet, but many mismatches exist. I have a shimmering gold vest and black pants but no matching shirt.
Thank goodness almost everything goes with jeans! I have a ton of never worn jeans because my mother’s friend dumped bunches of clothes on her. The woman collected a ton of clothes she rarely wore.
It made no sense since the friend was closer to my age and size. My mother couldn’t wear most of the clothes because they didn’t fit or weren’t something an 88-year-old would wear.
The friend might have heard my mom complaining about needing new clothes. My mom would no longer shop for anything, and buying clothes online proved difficult. She rarely liked anything we purchased.
I scored a fantastic pair of shoes that her friend had never worn. The shoes have a white rubber sole high up the side, perfect for our rainy Seattle…
