We all come together
to die in unison
under the weight of nothingness
an empty humanity that floats across great expanses
to drop like a guillotine of greed
on the innocent wandering the streets

We all come together
to hold the front
from becoming undone
we join our figurative hands
against time (a fire)
that our trite words (a wind)
only serve to fan
flames
higher

We all come together
in a struggle we invariably
lose
which we invariably
do not understand
— not the path
— nor the way
definitely not the purpose
and even further still
the solution

We come together in blindness
that we see clearly
to wade into the waters
that will drown us…
