Brain research supports at least seven primary emotional systems. They are: Seeking, Rage, Fear, Lust, Care, Grief (formerly panic), and Play. [1]

Can you pick the emotion depicted in this poem?

Pushing from the doorframe
He saunters into the room
Eyes sparkle with a promise
Of sin…
Damn his infuriating lopsided grin
Your eyes can feast all they like,
Eyes alight, kindled
You’re not tasting this delight
With narrowed perspective, I fight
His eyebrows arch, non-verbal, ‘Oh?’
I’m not the pretty per se status quo
Indeed
His pupils dilate with raw desire
Excitement smoulders, lava fire
He stumbles as he stalks
s l o w l y
Engaging emasculate alpha stride
I hold my ground
My breath tomes the apex
Teeth graze my lip
Head tilts high
He towers me at six foot five
I come alive
Leaning close, hair swept aside
Whispered words cause tingles
Down my spine
‘Be mine, tonight’
‘You must have lost your mind’
‘Is that so? Shall I leave you, then?’
Hell no!
A casual shrug, ‘I’ll phone you a ride’
‘May I seduce you while I wait?’
‘You can try, I suppose’
Sly, his smile spreads like a gulf
‘Well, here goes’
Soft lips brush across my skin
Kisses caress where my neck begins
And ends…
