Happy New Year! 2025 is here, and since we’re the new brew (running hot, I might add) there’s no time to waste ushering in our inaugural contest.

Black Coffee Poetry’s Juried Contest — January begins NOW, with a specialty splash…

WINNER — $50 USD

2nd PLACE — $30 USD

3rd PLACE — $15 USD

We’re going to keep this challenge wide open thematically. It doesn’t have to be dark, grungy, or mournful, though the judges do love pitch-black shots of percolated Americanos. We invite you to submit your best piece in a genre of your choosing: poetry, prose poetry, micro poetry, stream-of-consciousness art, experimental writing, or simply a story with a poetic flow.
