How the Babel elevates stories on human expression
Monthly updates and a new writing prompt
March 2, 2025
Hi everyone,
Welcome to a new edition of the Babel newsletter.
2025 seems to be the year of the Babel. We have solidified our presence on Medium and Babel is now one of the leading publications on the Alchemy Collective.
It’s hard to believe how in just a few months Babel has grown to +1,200 followers and every day we get hundreds of reads.
There seems to be a genuine interest in stories regarding human expression in all its forms right now on Medium.
So I would like to remind everyone how Babel is open for submissions.
We can’t wait to read your stories covering all the topics below (and more):
Personal stories about languages and acculturation
- Language learning tips and techniques
- Linguistic research and theories
- Explorations of multilingualism and language diversity
- Language and technology
- Language in culture, literature, and media
- Translation and interpretation
- Language preservation and revitalization efforts.
- Ancient and modern languages
- Art as a universal language

This list gives you an idea of what we’re looking for but it’s not exhaustive, so please submit any story you feel is a good fit for the broader “human expression” framework.
March Writing Prompt
How Did Language or Art Bridge Your Divide?”
Words can sometimes fail us, but there are many other ways to bridge the expression gap.
- Why does a painting sometimes conveys feelings or ideas our own words never could?
- Has mastering a new language or artistic medium helped you in any unique way?
These are just a couple of ideas you can explore.
Picasso said: “Art washes away the dust of everyday life,” and below you’ll find some of the impactful stories we read last month on Babel.
