I wrote the original version of this in response to a call by for video game rage.

An angry hungry plant… could it be a triffid?

I’d never written horror until I received the prompt in a writing contest a couple of years ago. But now… I kind of like it.

“Fuckin’ zombie plants.” Steve spat at the screen.

Hot rage rippled through flabby muscles as he levered himself off the couch. He sneered at the nearby housewarming gift from his mom. “What you laughing at, punk?”

The plant twitched.

“So smug in your glazed little pot. Rooting for the zombie, weren’t you? You want your own remote? Here!” Steve flung his controller at the wilting leaves.

The plant hissed and whipped open its flower to reveal a perfectly coiled stinger. It twitched the tip, melting the remote in a rain of acidic saliva.

The petals curled into a smile.

“Fuck.”

I was in a similar silly mood when I wrote these drabbles. Enjoy!

I write whimsical stories of colour, excitement, joy and revenge. And I'm kind of fascinated by words and language. And play, especially in teens and adults.
