These Medium Bots are Driving Me Crazy

I receive notifications for my story. Someone clapped, commented, and followed me — they even subscribed to receive emails!

Excited, I click on my new friend’s profile, curious to see who they are.

It’s a barren page, except for one article: “Earn $10,000 a Month in Passive Income Using These AI Tools.”

My heart sinks.

It’s just another bot.

For someone who dreams of being a published author, Medium has been a dream come true.

Since joining five months ago, I’ve had seven pieces boosted, one earning me a reprint on YourTango.com and an invite to the Blue Planet Stories podcast. I’ve met some incredible writers, like Roz Warren and Debra Harman — editors who have become invaluable to honing my craft.

I even have fans!

Yet, like every social media site, Medium has been inundated with bots.

Unlike other social media sites, I care deeply about what I post, so it drives me crazy whenever these ones and zeroes show up in my notifications.

It’s gotten worse since Medium added 77 countries to their Partner program this past August. Now, I have one-word comments — or worse, comments that are…
