Today I am going to talk about what is often called echoes in the writing world.

An “echo” refers to unwanted repetition like an echoing of a word, phrase, or idea within the narrative.

Now I know you can’t resist repeating yourself in your stories, as you want to end up in the bondage basement being punished.

But wouldn’t you rather get a reward for resisting repetition?

YES May. Please reward us…

I hear you shout. Well, if you follow this post, and pay attention, you will be rewarded with a happy editor! I am sure that’s enough for you :-D

Editor Exhausted Because of Echoes

Let’s have a look at some examples.

Same word echo:

  • Echo: He opened the door and walked in. Then he opened the window.
  • No Echo: He opened the door and walked in. Then he unlatched the window.

Same meaning but smooth like my silk pillow case.

More please May. We want More.
