Why AI Might Make You Cry

A Seussian Rhyme for Modern Time

Google’s gaga for AI,
They just fired their first-page guy,
Ask them what does something mean,
You’ll find out from a machine.

Google saved a ton of bucks,
That’s why all their content sucks,
AI scours the internet,
What’s been said is what you get.

AI has no new insights,
It just dodges copyrights,
AI is a great big loop,
Adding your stuff to the soup.

Calling it intelligence,
Really doesn’t make much sense,
AI finds stuff really fast,
But it’s all stuff from the past.

All your writing, and all mine,
Dating back to ‘89,
That’s what AI’s serving up,
Drinking from the same old cup.

I asked AI to write punchlines,
For jokes I wrote in ‘99,
Imagine my surprise to find,
The punchlines it gave back were mine!

Now Adobe’s got a cloud,
Store your work there, you’re allowed.
Use their server, they don’t mind.
Oops, you’ve just been data mined!

Just more ‘haves’ who use ‘have-nots,’
To beta-test and train their bots.

Illustrations use to take,
Hours, days or weeks to make.
Now it’s easy, piece o’ cake,
Which is great, make no mistake.

The Cat-in-the-Hat looking guilty at the cookie jar.
OpenartAI did this when I asked it to.

But photos of real people’s faces,
Can be put in awkward places,
Places they should not have been,
For the trouble they’d get in.

All because of one depiction,
they’re now facing a conviction.
That means someone really skilled,
with AI, could get them killed.

So, there needs to be more rules,
Living in a world of fools,
You don’t need more reasons why,
Just be careful with AI.
