Cassie
After their dinner and a short drive, they found themselves in front of a simple storefront trimmed in black paint. A sign that read “Madame Cassandra, Psychic and Spirit Guide” hung above the door. Clint was still skeptical of the whole business.
“I can’t believe we’re actually doing this,” he muttered.
“Come on,” sighed Dorrie. “What have we got to lose, except maybe some time?” Nodding, Clint took a deep breath, and the two of them went through the door.
Inside, they found the space to be more cramped than it looked from the outside. Bookshelves lined the walls, stuffed with volumes discussing everything from energy crystals to chakras; two titles that jumped out to Clint were Feng Shui For Beginners and So, You Need To Perform an Exorcism? Two Victorian-looking paisley sofas faced each other in the middle of the room, a low round table between them. A crystal ball sat on the table in a stand that looked as if it were carved from driftwood. Scattered around the room were chairs that were just as puffy as the sofas, with similar upholstery. The smell of old books and dust hung in the air.
“Well, she certainly looks the part,” said Clint, unenthusiastically.
