One Door Closes, Another Opens
After a major rejection, Maddy is asked out by someone she hadn’t even considered before.
As much as she hated the way her first date ended, a large portion of it was actually great! Maddy was glad to have taken the plunge and gotten it over with, too. Though it was awkward, she was optimistic that it would only get better from there.
Still, she wished there could be something real with Matt. Every day, her feelings for him grew stronger, and she was thinking of doing something as drastic as getting on a plane, during Spring Break, to go out and see him. The thought of it festered in her brain as she imagined losing her virginity to him. He’d be so good to her, so gentle, and so forthcoming with all the instructions of what she’d need to do. He could still be the first man to make her come — that role was not yet taken.
“Maddy,” he sighed when she professed her ideas to him one night as they video chatted. He looked weary in the way he said her name, and then scrubbed his hand over his face. “I can’t. We can’t do that.”
It felt like a huge blow. She was willing to make the trip! She had savings, she could pay for her own tickets and everything.
