One more trivia night full of fun facts for Cory.
I’ve gotten used to going to pub trivia with Cory and have become comfortable with it. It was a way for me to spend more time with her, and seeing her so in her element was awesome. I actually experienced this feeling of awe at watching her play, how easily the answers came to her. She didn’t even wrinkle her forehead or frown or need a moment to dredge up the piece of information from somewhere deep down in her memory; she just knew it.
We had returned to the bar down the street from my place many more times. We weren’t exactly regulars, not committing to being there every single Tuesday night, but six months after that first evening there, the quiz master did know our names. We didn’t always come with the same exact group. Sometimes, Cory’s friends came, sometimes mine. Sometimes one of Cory’s brothers joined us with his wife. And it was convenient because afterwards we just walked back to my apartment. Cory had been keeping a few things at my place since before our fight over the summer. Mostly toiletries, a case for her contacts, lens solution, hair ties. Yelena, the housekeeper who came by once a week, had noticed it back in June still and asked me about it.
