A letter to my father

Dear Daddy,
In the first class of my 11th standard, our teacher briefly asked us about one person we look up to. While sir asked us to think of achievers or inspirational individuals, the first inspirational figure that came to my mind was you. Before this, I could never find the courage to write a letter both to and about you at the same time. Today, however, I believe I have become just as courageous. This letter is a composition of a daughter’s complaints, her aspirations, her concerns, and her assertions. This one is from a daughter to her father. Your daughter, who is now a grown warrior, to her lifetime coach.
I remember, as a kid, staying up late, lying down, gazing at the stars with you up on the terrace while mother would scold both of us for staying out in the cold. Maybe you would look at the stars in life’s contemplation, but I would look at them in delight. It is you who has made me this ambitious. Whether or not you believe this, it is you who has taught me stargazing. It is you who has taught me theories of postmodernism and the value of self-respect.
