A Viral, Violent Moment Outside My House

My family lives in a townhouse behind the “To Terminal” bus stop — where the bus route both ends and begins, and the drivers take their 15 minute breaks. We’re in a lovely Seattle neighborhood, next to a cafe, restaurant, and the beach.

Diane! Your terminal is all over the news!

For the life of me, I cannot figure out what my friend is talking about. My terminal? Then she texts a link to a news story about someone breaking a bus window and throwing a bottle into the bus — and a person inside the bus has caught the whole thing on video.

Ahh, yes, my bus stop.

The headline to the news story reads: “.” The reporter tees up the video by talking about how being at the terminus of the bus route “comes at a cost for this quaint Ballard corner,” as disoriented riders have caused property damage to the businesses and homes here…but never to the busses.

The video is shocking, especially given the perspective of the head-on angle. It’s as though the bottle is intended for…
