How to Ace Your MD Interview
Want to be a doctor? Here’s how.
The road to becoming a doctor is long and hard. I know that and I haven’t even fully matriculated into medical school yet. With barriers like the formidable 8-hour long MCAT and the dreaded personal statement, fulfilling your lifelong dream of becoming a physician is becoming more and more difficult each year as the applicant pool becomes more competitive, but each year the most important factor in consideration of your entrance into medical school is by far your interview.
Of course, you have to have the stats and extracurriculars to even get you that elusive interview, but if you’re only good on paper, I hate to break it to you, your chances of getting into medical school will burst up into flames.
I personally applied to 30 MD schools, was interviewed by 5 of them, and I was accepted into 3 of them, so I definitely have my fair share of interview experiences. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Before we even get to the actual interview content, if your interview is in another state and you can afford it, I would fly into the area a day prior, and get to know your surroundings a little bit better. Explore. Take a test run to the medical school facility. Get a feel for what might be your future home. And get a great night’s sleep the night beforehand, so you can…
