Trauma Mindset
A poem for trauma survivors
Your mind is as precious as your heart. Protect it.
Please be kind to it.
Please understand the moments you have of talking yourself down, doubting yourself, beating yourself up count as abuse, and gaslighting.
It’s self-abuse, and it’s difficult to catch as a survivor of trauma.
The way you talk to yourself matters and is interconnected through your mind, body, and soul.
Healing trauma is mending the cords you unconsciously cut from when you had to survive.
Your trauma brain is not a tragedy. It’s beautiful in the way it’s protected you.
To make meaning of trauma is to accept it happened and honor your choices to thrive, heal, and be whole once again.
Be here for a moment.
Breathe here for a moment.
Be you for a moment.
Because you’re meant to be here.
You’re meant to exist.
You’re unconditionally protected by forces outside of you.
The force is love.
The love of the universe.
The love of your ancestors.
The love of your safe relationships.
The undeniable and always accessible love of your future higher self.
