Love Is Blind: When Black Love Wins
Meet The Browns
I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a good love story. It is my guilty pleasure. When love is painless, easy, genuine, and effortless, it adds a layer of whimsical magic and makes for a beautiful romantic tale.
I found just this, in the latest installment of Love is Blind, a reality TV Show on Netflix, hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey.
I must confess that the attractiveness and appeal of the recently completed Season Four is that we, the audience get to see a “strong Black lead.”
Can I hear an Amen, somebody?
In all seriousness, previous seasons of the show have been dominated by the overwhelming presence of a predominantly white cast. And when Black folks are featured, they are often relegated to the sidelines or fail to find a love connection — which is the premise of the show - forcing an early exodus, without the audience getting to know them.
With that being said, this trend seems to have come to an end in this season. In Season Four, we meet a diverse cast of different Black — male and female — all vying for a chance to find love in a rather unconventional way.
The pièce de résistance has to be when the audience is introduced to Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell, from Seattle, Washington.
