The Man of The House
More Than Just A Title
When my husband travels, I realize I’m not as independent as I thought, and that’s a good thing.
I’ve come to understand that most women don’t really know how important a man’s presence in the home is until their absence. This is one thing I have experienced repeatedly.
Beyond being a father, husband and paying the bills, there are little yet crucial roles men play in the home that are not appreciated until you are in that situation to carry out these roles. I saw this play out with my mom after my dad passed.
At first, I did not think much of anything in the house that would stress my mom or give her any problem.
However, as time passed, she began to complain about simple things around the house that needed fixing like the sink in the kitchen, the toilet, the light and more. She began to find it very hard to put a lot of things around the house together. These were things that were never a problem when my dad was there because he was the fixer.
There are still things around the house that my mom has abandoned because she can’t fix them herself and probably finds it stressful to call someone else to do it. I must say, the house is no longer the way it used to be when my dad was alive.
