Writing has been my safe place since third grade, when I first picked up a journal and realized I could tell MY TRUTH. Ever since then, writing has been the one place where I could empty my mind, heal, and understand the world around me and within me.

I was initiated into the metaphysical world at four years old, but quickly learned to hide my gifts to survive. I grew up in a home marked by domestic violence, emotional neglect, and survival. Books became my sanctuary. School became my escape. Recognition became my currency for love I rarely received.

By the time I was 14, I was working at a restaurant to help my single mother make ends meet and, unknowingly, stepped into a dynamic of partnership instead of the mother-daughter relationship I had longed for. In high school, I became an overachiever: a cheerleader, Senior Class President, National Honor Society Vice-President, Ambassador for my school. I overperformed because I had been shown that love was transactional, something you had to earn by becoming exceptional. I chased achievement hoping…
