For 7 years, I served as a dedicated advocate for marginalized individuals seeking to secure meaningful employment. Day in and day out, I guided them through the daunting interview process, where the simple question, “Tell Me About Yourself,” often became a stumbling block. It struck me as perplexing since I assumed it to be the easiest question to answer. Yet, here I am, facing the same challenge as I attempt to craft my own “About Me” narrative.
While I could meticulously outline my professional trajectory, I’ve come to understand that our identities extend far beyond our job titles. Yes, I’ve worn hats labeled mom, wife, teacher, soldier, and now community liaison. However, none of these roles encapsulate the essence of who I am at my core.
