PhotoYu App Study
Memo as of July 15, 2024 for study break
- Data sets and instruments for participant observations and literature review: Not yet finished, and some photography events have been missed due to other work. The goal for this week is to complete both and start compiling a preliminary report.
- Publishing via Medium: It is quite tiring because I am new to this platform and am still adapting. Therefore, I mostly follow the suggestions from the Medium Blogger Community ( KBM ) administrators.

Register FotoYu App
To get a complete picture of the application registration experience, an initial search using a search engine yielded several recommendations. Starting from websites, blogs, comments on social media, to video recordings. One source that provides a detailed registration method is the YouTube channel .
As a start, the videographer offers various motivations that can be chosen by someone who will register and use FotoYu. He also gives a brief overview of how the FotoYu business process works. After setting the intention, he begins to explain the registration requirements. In addition to filling time, he emphasizes that this application is not only intended for photographers. Videos, drone pilots , and creative content creators can also use this application.
The demographic requirements that must be met when registering are a minimum age of 13 years. Applicants who are over 17 years old can become Verified Creators. The requirements are quite easy, only requiring original identification such as an ID card or driver's license. Their work can be marketed with an upper price limit of one million rupiah. For those under 17 years old, they can register as a Basic Creator. Users in this category do not need an identity card (ID card/driver's license) when registering, but the work being marketed has an upper price limit of 9,000 rupiah. Although small, for a 13-year-old child, this amount is quite attractive to buy snacks such as otak-otak or half-cooked kue cubit.
After following the explanation in the video, it turns out that in the video description section there is also a table of contents that makes it easier for viewers to immediately find the specific information they want. I also feel very helped by this facility, similar to the table of contents in a book.
The research on using the FotoYu application did not go smoothly. Activities in other places took up more time so I was forced to stop the research activity. Using the running event information from page , I noted several missed events . In total, I have missed more than three scheduled runs to try to take photos and upload them to the application. Here is a list of the events I missed:
- July 7, 2024: Smart Fren Run 2024 at Senayan East Parking Lot-GBK-Central Jakarta.
- July 14, 2024: JNT Connect Run at Senayan East Parking Lot-GBK-Central Jakarta.
- July 21, 2024: Jakarta Color Run Festival at Pasar Seni Taman Impian Jaya Ancol.
Hopefully, on another occasion, this research can run more smoothly and provide benefits for the development of photography.
