3 Things I Learnt after Earning My First $11.80 on Medium

The first day of September is when I enrolled for the Partner Program, after having explored Medium to my satisfaction.

A month later, I got my first pay-out, $11.80. There were mixed feelings — it was too less an amount, but at the same time a decent amount for the first month (that is what I have read from the experiences of other writers). Besides, I knew I hadn’t been able to give my best shot because I was still learning.

After a month, I have my list of what works here and what doesn’t and felt I should share my experience.

Let me begin by saying that I totally support writing for publications — that is where the buzz is, but just make sure that your article resonates with the ethos of the publication you submit to. I do not think self-publishing helps, much less for a newbie. Besides, it is my opinion that each article of yours should have a suitable home.
