What Rules Your Heart?
Whenever I share my thoughts here, it’s never about dazzling you with brilliance or spouting metaphysical stuff. It’s about getting into your heart-space with soothing words that feel like opening the windows to let fresh air in. It’s about touching the layers of hurt and pain that haven’t caught the light in ages.
If I’ve ever published any article brimming with this desire, it’d be this one. In the following paragraphs, I want my words to hit close to home, to force you to look at yourself again. It all comes from a place of love, needing you to be whole, a place that makes you feel seen and helps you move forward.
Earlier today, I was talking to a friend I’d describe as ‘hearty’, not because he’s boisterous but because he enjoys things deeply, and can retrieve wonder from life’s smallest joys. We spoke about how this ‘passionateness’ is frowned upon by many people. As we got into it, talking about why some people never enjoy things more deeply, I sighed deeply. From personal experience and watching people over the years, I know one factor is often responsible for this: ‘Trauma’.
Many of us are familiar with the word, that awful thing we’re battling now because of something that happened in the past, that cluster of blinding mess that can sit on a massive chunk of our hearts and refuse to let anything in. That thing that hurts whenever anyone squeezes…
