a preamblic note to the reader:

I had submitted this piece to a publication here on Medium and it was not accepted. “We’d love if you had a few more articles and poems on your profile. Check out this other publication that’s a great place for new writers!” Upon receiving this email, I re-read this poem through the lens of ‘wait is this actually dogshit?’ and found that I experienced all the same heart flutters and sparkles and childish delight as when I first wrote it.

Stream of consciousness poetry, to me, is like a 5 year old finger painting. There is no need to ‘think’ through anything but to just let your being be and see what comes out. To let yourself scribble with a crayon on a blank sheet of paper for no other reason than it feels good to move your arm around and see colour left behind.

So, I apologize to the poor soul who had to read this short work of mine that clearly had no place in her elegant poetry publication. (I promise I’m not bitter, it’s just fun to play bitter). What else can I say? I really like scribbling!

Jesus doesn’t live in my heart anymore

but there is a very bright light that does
