Another Chance
An opportunity that cannot be fully understood
But unknowingly our chains start to break
We may be different
We are minorities
But we can overcome what others may think impossible
We hold the difficulties of our family’s past
But that does not stop us from changing our course
We have a story to tell and a voice to speak loud and clear
The oppressors want to silent us
But it is not because our words have no meaning
It is because our words are potent enough to destroy the enemy
Our words can bring life to the untouchables
Our words deliver inspiration and hope to the least fortunate
Our words can heal the division of our class and race
But we must also face the reality
There is injustice, racism, prejudice, and obstacles that the powerful wants to put on us
As much as we want to live in an ideal world
The truth is there is no such thing
As we get older we start to notice
Our innocence is shattered
And like the sharp ends of a broken glass we are high guarded
We are sensitive
We are broken
