Indian Traditions Are Against Women: Open Talk About Marriage
No customs place a burden on men as they do on women.
Indian women live in a pathetic state, tied by meaningless traditions and emotional baggage. An adult woman hesitates to think about marriage mainly because of unfavorable practices that clash with her desires in life.
I agree that not every practice exists without purpose. But it is unfair for society to prioritize the customs pressuring women and neglecting the ones that involve men.
From the way the potential groom visits to judge a woman based on her looks to his family turning her into a puppet on occasions, marriages have a detrimental impact on a woman’s life. For a long time, I observed it from a distance and got confused about why this or that happens.
Being in the same place where I’ve been made to go through a lot of pressures and degrading practices caused me to overthink nights and days. I seriously question my ideocracy in agreeing to getting married.
