From $0 to $5: My First Month on Medium and What I Learned
I’ve been a member of the Medium Partner Program for about a month now, writing regularly. Finding something to write about isn’t always easy. Since this is also partly about making money, it’s hard to decide which topics will work best. Sometimes I do online research, other times I brainstorm on my own, and sometimes I just read what other writers are posting for inspiration. It was during one of these reading sessions that I noticed something.

Medium suggests articles to us based on what we’ve read before. One day, I came across a headline like, “How I Made 1K in One Month.” Up to that point, I hadn’t really seen anything similar, so I thought this person must be sharing a real secret, and I clicked right away. The advice given wasn’t wrong, really. I took notes and carried on with my day. But the more time I spent on the site, the more I realized that there were so many articles with similar titles popping up everywhere.
Thousands of new writers join the platform every day, and everyone’s goal is, in a way, to earn money. This demand definitely increases the visibility of certain types of posts. I’m not against these kinds of guide-type articles at all. They serve a…
