In the immortal words of Donald J. Trump, you just don’t have the cards. Little did he know at the time, that he would be the one who wouldn’t have the cards in a trade war of his own making with a mighty opponent he underestimated: China.

From now on, the president of the United States might consider taking his own advice. Plus the advice and example of leaders better than himself.

Trump could stand to learn a few things from his recent defeat by President Xi: the art of patience, calm, and not making a clown of yourself on the international front.

But truth be told, it’s difficult to abstain from clownery when you’re a clown at heart.

Plus, you’d need to have an ounce of self-awareness to be able to understand that you started a war just to feed your ego, you lost the war because the other party refused to participate, and now you have to save face.
