Low-Content vs. Medium-Content

I’d been reading quite a bit about creating low-content books, so I thought I’d try it. How hard could it be? I get an excellent photo for the cover, give it a title, put some blank or lined pages in the book, and call it good. I have my own images to use, and I’m very confident in my ability to create a blank page.

Amazon KDP says, “A low-content book has minimal or no content on the interior pages. These pages are generally repetitive and designed to be filled in by the user. Examples include notebooks, planners, journals, and other similar works.”

As I researched the particulars for creating a planner, I learned I was more interested in medium-content books. Medium-content books are slightly more involved than low-content books. Think of: activity books, coloring books, and workbooks — books where the pages aren’t repetitive and include some words.

My curiosity in medium-content books was triggered for the following reasons:
