Losing the press, Joy Reid is fired!!
Last night, as I was getting ready for bed, Charley called out of the living room.
- “You were right again.”
Being right is one of the things I don’t want to be right about these days. The things I listed as prophecies are not random; they come from my experience of watching the dictatorship unfold step by step or from my training in sociology. I took a deep breath and asked;
- “What happened?”
- “MSNBC fired Joy.”
I took a deep breath.
- “But why?” I said. It’s funny to ask that. Why is it necessary. In his last programs, he called the Trump government by name and called them fascists. I don’t think they were offended by that, but fascists don’t like to be called names for some reason.
But it is important to name what is happening. Today there are still people in Turkey and Russia who think they are governed by democracy. When you don’t name it, it is much easier to suppress, especially generations that don’t know any other form of government. Who will sit down and research what is dictatorship, what is democracy, what are the characteristics that determine these governments? If everyone whose voice is silenced is told that everything is rosy at the beginning and everyone who says “what the hell, what is this?” disappears…
