Imagined with Copilot

In the lab, the new science teacher, Mrs Trueman, pointed at a housefly in a Petri dish. “Remarkable Insect,” she said. “Did you know a fly can detach its head and still live for several days?”

A collective shudder rippled through the pupils.

“Its nervous system is not entirely centralized in the brain,” she continued, unfazed. “The body can still function. It’s a bizarre ability that allows them to escape predators.” She finished.

Little Timmy’s eyes widened. He’d always swatted flies with impunity. Now, the thought of a headless Insect crawling around his room sent a fresh wave of unease.
