Where Are All My Australians At?
Looking for my friends down under.
Starting my online journey in 2020, there was one big thing which has consistently stood out for me — the lack of interaction of my fellow Aussies.
Why do I say this?
All the social media platforms which I use for business, are absolutely crickets during my day time hours.
An eerie quiet as all my friends work their corporate 9–5 roles and I sit at home, creating content and seeing an empty phone screen. Great for concentration but all the same, I can’t help but ponder with confusion.
It hits 3pm and my notifications slowly start to trickle in as my friends around the globe wake up and start their days.
The most productivity in interaction comes late in the evening, around 10pm when it’s time for me to start winding down for the day.
I used to get trapped in late night chats but I’ve since learned to set my phone to “do not disturb” and respond in the morning.
As my alarm rings loud at 6.30am, I shamelessly disable the do not disturb and scroll through all the notifications from my overseas friends and clients. This is also the time I get the most notifications from Medium and various other platforms. It’s a constant reassurance that their is activity…
