Drugs don’t kill people, people kill people!

If Gun Advocates Used the Same Argument for Heroin

--

There are drugs that have been proven to have beneficial effects. There are also drugs that haven’t. Most healthy Americans would agree that heroin, in terms of a street drug, is one of the latter. Using it kills a lot of people. We know that. We have the stats. Accordingly, most healthy Americans would agree that it’s not a good idea to have a bunch of heroin laying around in the average person’s home. Why? Well, if heroin is in the house, people would have a greater chance of killing themselves by using heroin.

So, we made it illegal.

If you were to run around advocating that the law didn’t make sense because heroin didn’t kill people, people using heroin killed people…technically, you’d be correct. Still, common sense would say that it’s not a good idea to have heroin in the average household, nonetheless. Because, a lot of people die from using heroin.

And generally, if someone says, but I like heroin! Well, mainly that would be an even greater signal that that particular person shouldn’t have easy access to heroin. Because, you know, that person would be even more likely to use it, and to use heroin means a higher risk of death… by heroin.
