Enamored

The woods are quiet around you

As you gaze into the still, flat pond

Reflecting trees, flowers, the sky

And you.

Surface unrippled, so calm

If it stirs the spell will break

You will wrinkle and distort

An unimaginable thing.

Consider the dive,

Breaking through your reflection

Scattering yourself

Into perfect little waves.

Suddenly seaweed

Twining around gorgeous legs

Soft slimy mud

Darkening your flaxen curls.

The pond is so shallow

The bottom comes up fast

Time to roll over

And look up.
