Comparison is the Thief of Joy
Here’s why you need to stop.
Comparison doesn’t discriminate; we are all guilty of doing it. We’ve done it at home and school. I compared myself to my best friend to see who was taller and smarter. You did too.
The comparison in school was obvious. From the hallway to the playground, you had to be in a special friendship group, earn your place, or look the part.
You measured yourself against your friend-looking to see how you performed in certain sports or the arts, or simply from seeing your grades. We all wondered if we were good enough and often wanted something we couldn’t have.
Outside the school gates, girls and boys secretly aspired to be better, fitter, and the chosen one for the junior or senior prom.
Even when your school days were over, did you wonder how you would make your parents proud? Maybe you wanted to write stories but had to become a doctor, a lawyer, or a banker?
